When I was asked this year, why I would ride, I didn't even have to think about it! I dedicate this years ride In loving memory of Robert J Turner 7/17/52 - 12/5/07. Robert lost the battle of lung cancer at the age of 55.
Its been nearly 4 months since my best friend Tracee lost her beloved father, Robert Turner, A man of great integrity! Bob left behind an amazing wife, a daughter, two sons and grandchildren. As time passes and things seem to settle down, you begin to see how ones life has an impact on others. From Bob's roommate in the hospital to people who met him across the country, where ever he'd been, he left his impression. Bob was full of life. He was one of the funniest men I had ever met. My dear friend Tracee and her mom are working hard to carry on his traditions and keep the memory of him alive. The faith that he installed in everyone, and the love that he gave friends and family could never be replaced, but cherished for years to come. It has been a pleasure to have been a friend of the Turner family for over 30 years, losing Bob, was like losing a member of my own family.
So, I ride to bring peace to myself. I ride to free my myself from life's sorrows. I am thankful to have the ability to ride, and to have won my own battles with cancer. I am riding to help others win the battle! I am riding to fight cancer!
Please join us for the cancer ride or walk. As you step off for 1, 10, 25, 50 miles, you will know that with every mile - your making a difference!
